Plans have been lodged for a new development of employment space in North Yorkshire with the potential to support the creation of almost 500 jobs.
RR UK (South), supported by Quod and KPP, has submitted an application to Harrogate Borough Council for development at Marston Business Park in Tockwith.
Planning permission is sought for new employment units on five plots at the park.
The proposed development will provide a total of 182,100 sq ft of industrial and warehouse space, with a 60,000 sq ft unit to be built on Plot A and a series of buildings with units measuring between 2,250 sq ft and 20,000 sq ft on the other four.
A total of 345 new car parking spaces will be created, including 32 disabled spaces and 31 electric vehicle charging spaces. A further 19 motorcycle spaces will be provided, along with 128 long and short stay cycle parking spaces.
It has been estimated that the development could support the creation of about 470 jobs, as well as further roles during construction.
A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: “MBP comprises a highly successful existing business park, which is fully let and currently performs well. Indeed, there is a significant demand at MBP, as well as the wider area, for industrial and distribution uses, imbalanced by an undersupply within the region.
“The proposals will allow the expansion and growth of MBP, which will ensure the Park remains successful.”
MBP currently comprises about 270,000 sq ft of employment floorspace within a range of small to medium size business units.
It is part of a former WWII airfield, RAF Marston Moor, and is under the ownership of London and Scottish Property Investment Management (which is behind the applicant), CPP and Flexspace.
